Rebecca, originally published in 1938, is a gothic novel filled with ghostly influences, grave jealousy, and dark corners. Our heroine is swept off her feet while on holiday in Monte Carlo by the mysterious Maxim de Winter, a widower, and taken to live with him in his estate, Manderley. The memory of his former wife begins to weigh on her, and the darkness unfolds.
