The Lick Observatory: Imaging the Cosmos
This collection of documents asks us to think about how astronomical observation and representation--then, as now--is filtered by the aesthetic expectations, experiences, and preferences of the observer. We can perhaps even see how affective reactions to celestial objects, like awe or the feeling of sublimity [link], condition even the most "objective" efforts at observation and representation.
