Joshua Mandell is a junior at Yale College. He is majoring in History and is also an Education Studies Scholar.
Joshua graduated from Western Albemarle High School in 2012. He began his undergraduate education in history with courses on ancient and medieval Europe. One of his papers, "Coriolanus, Camillus and Roman Identity," was published in the Fall 2013 issue of the Helicon, Yale's undergraduate journal of Classics. His current interests include U.S. cultural history and the history of photography. He was able to pursue these interests while writing "Tobe: A Work of African-American Children's Literature in Context," which will be published in the Fall 2014 Yale Historical Review. He continued to explore history through photography for his digital review on this site. This October, he was awarded a Helzer Academic Travel Grant to do research at Stanford University. His findings will be featured in a forthcoming digital exhibit on this website.
At Yale, Joshua works for Dwight Hall as a Public School Intern, and for the Yale Athletic Department as the Publicity Contact for men's swimming.
