Border Patrol and Prison System
I really appreciate the relevance of Bouie's essay to our discussion after reading MIGRA's epilogue. It is clear that exploring the place of Mexican-Americans in the U.S. racial spectrum over time is a central goal of her research. Lytle-Hernandez says that the increasing number of Mexican immigrants in federal prisons indicates that for Mexicans, "the story of race has tipped away form whiteness and towards blackness." I'm interested in hearing your opinions on this!
