Pueblo Rival Games

Pueblo Bell Game

On Thanksgiving in 1892 the first ever Bell Game was played between Central High and Centennial High. Today at the Pueblo City Library I researched the bell game mostly and also did some research on smaller
rivalries such as the Cannon Game and the Pigskin Classic. The Bell Game now sells out at 13,500 and occasion the cannon game will to. The affects these games have on the community and economy are very
significant. Our group will be having a special section on the pueblo football rivalries on our website.

Pueblo Cannon Game

Pueblo South and Pueblo East clash for the cannon. This is considered to be one of the best rivalries in the state of Colorado but ironically it is only the second most popular game in the city of Pueblo. Both schools play for an authentic Civil War canon that is the heaviest trophy in Colorado high school football. As of Fall 2015 this was the 57th year in the series between the two schools overall but they started competing for the actual cannon in 1976.

These two games are an important part of the culture of the city of Pueblo with the comments of current coaches and alumni of the schools reflecting that passion.
