Pueblo High School Baseball
Baseball in Pueblo
The first "public" baseball game in Pueblo, Colorado
took place on August 1, 1872 between the Kit Carson Sagebrushes and the
Pueblo Soapweeds. The Soapweeds were the victors with a score of 28-23.
Since this first game, baseball has a rich and storied tradition in
the Pueblo community. From professional legends to minor leaguers with
big dreams to men who played because there was "nothing else to do"
during the depression, to young men and women in high school with dreams
of playing in the big leagues, baseball has cut a permanent path
through the Pueblo landscape.

The Runyon field complex was completed in 1934 when the
bleachers were moved from Merchants Field and has played host to many
young ball players and has become a proving ground for players in the
region.
