Pueblo High Schools


Centennial High School is a high school located in Pueblo,CO. It serves roughly 1000 students in grades 9 through 12. Centennial startedout as a 16 x 20 foot structure built in 1873 at 421 North Santa Fe Avenue. Now Centennial has a facility with over 50 classrooms, 2 gyms, a weightroom, and multiple sporting fields.

South High School is the second-oldest high school in District 60 established in1959 and is located in the south side of Pueblo, Colorado. South has roughly around 1,400 students and had multiple facilities on
its 40 acre campus. The school's colors are black and white, and the mascot is the colt.

Pueblo West High School is a public high school located in Pueblo West, Colorado part of the Pueblo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The school opened its doors in 1997 as a new extension of Pueblo School District 70. Pueblo West High School became an International Baccalaureate world school in 2009 offering the IB Diploma Programme.



Central High School is one of seven public high schools located in Pueblo, Colorado. The high school was the second for the city of Pueblo and was founded in 1881. It is the only high school to have two Medal of Honor recipients, William J. Crawford (Class of '36) and Carl L. Sitter (Class of '40). The school at one time had a reputation for gang membership and used an ad campaign to improve its image.


On September 1, 1959, South and East high schools opened their doors to a new era and a fresh rivalry in Pueblo's tradition-steeped high school environment. Plans for building the new high schools began in 1956, but actual construction didn't begin until the summer of 1957. South and East, named for the locations in the city where they were located, were built to serve the growing Sunset Park and Belmont neighborhoods.
