Conclusion
In conclusion, Project 1000 is looking to be the next in the line of innovative movements at the University of Illinois. The movement all started from student organization and has turned into something big. Just like other innovations on campus student unity was able to start a movement and gain support from other students on campus to get administration's attention. Starting of small and irrelevant the Black United Front was able to get support from the Department of African American studies in order to put more pressure on school administration to meet their demands. The movement is innovative because it builds of off a previous innovation (Project 500) but is looking to expand, introduce new ideas, and is more advanced. Project 1000 is looking to change the campus by diversifying the student body in order to get more African-American representation at the University of Illinois. They also want black students to be able to get academic support to stay in school and excel once they are already admitted. If Project 1000 ends up being successful the opportunity for African American students to have a greater impact at the school will increase. African American students will have more opportunity to get an education than in previous years. This reform in the education system is similar to what Paul Schroeder envisioned in his interview about students being able to make a change in their school and not subjected to authority. It also shows the power of how much the student body can accomplish when they unite in a common goal that betters their educational institution. Project 1000 can be seen as a model for students from other racial groups in order for them to start their own movements in getting representation on campus. As seen in the success of the DRES program which was able to help students with physical and mental learning disabilities make a big impact on campus and show that disabled students deserve an education as well. Project 1000 wants to enable that black students be given this opportunity as well by being provided with the correct resources.
