You show the contrast in the identity that other would bestow upon you versus the identity that you want to see for yourself. You identified your clan with people like Tom Wolfe, however, you recognize that their stories are ultimately going to be different. I think what you do in this post is well done because you authentically show your experience as it compares to the experiences of the others without trying to make your problems seem worse. I think your attempt at writing a "Clan of the Claw" post is successful because continued Samatar's concept of identifying your people but allowing the individual stories of each person to keep their own significance.
