Re: Willful Ignorance

Mary, one of the most interesting things about this topic is that almost every single person is poisoned by willful ignorance in some way. You example about politics applies to me entirely. I don't understand politics and I have made a decision not to try to understand. I assume that there are enough educated people out there to partake in politics that I will not be missed. Obviously this is not true, this is just how I rationalize my own ignorance to myself. As I stated in a comment to someone else, holding yourself accountable for your own ignorance is the first step in addressing the problem. If everyone in the world could recognize their own ignorance and overcome it, we could fix everything wrong with the world. I'm afraid, however, that is far-fetched and wishful thinking.
