Postcolonial Speculative Fiction

I Had No Idea

I greatly appreciate this post because I feel like it taught me a lot. Obviously I would never touch someone's hair (hello, ever heard of personal space?) but I also have never quite realized that this act was considered a micro-aggression. I hadn't previously considered how this act "others" an individual. It definitely makes sense to me now. The act alone treats an individual as if they are exotic, which can be highly offensive. People are people, not exhibits for other people to marvel at. I personally do not really use my hair as an identity marker, so I also had neglected to realize that many people do. This is certainly ignorance on my part. Again, I appreciate your explanations of this issue. You have certainly opened my eyes.
