Post-Racial America : An Era of Blindness

The Identity of Post-Racial America

What does a post-racial American look like? - In this section, this book will discuss what a post-racial American will look like, and the difficulties associated with the formation of a Post-Racial America. Post-Racial Americans in many ways are the race envisioned by Jose Vasconcelos in his piece “La Raza Cosmica”. Hypothesizing a race that is an agglomeration of all the races of the world as one, the “Cosmic Race” seeks to create a civilization that is beyond skin color and racial determinations. This of course, is entirely possible in America, but is predicated on the assumption that racial divisions have already been demolished on a cultural scale. A post-racial America with the inclusion of the “Cosmic” fifth race is one that already sees past the social and historical barriers between race, with both equal opportunity and equity for members of all races.
