Kannon Reijo Project

Overview

To accomplish our goal of creating a Kannon reijo, or spiritually powerful place, as our own junrei, or pilgrimage site on campus, we divided our class into four research groups. Each group was tasked with exploring some aspect of Kannon reijo and reporting back with their findings. These findings were then used to develop our site and put it in line with the greater tradition of spiritually powerful places associated with Kannon. The research was also compiled and used to create a Scalar ebook, thus giving our Kannon reijo the desired digital presence.

Location

Our Kannon reijo is situated in the St. Lawrence University Japanese garden. Directions to St. Lawrence University and a regional map can be found here. The garden itself is located in the courtyard of the Sykes residence hall. The exact location of this courtyard is indicated below by the red dot.



Project Groups

In order to generate the best possible site, it was necessary to divide our research team into four smaller, specialized research groups. Detailed information concerning the research conducted by each group can be found at the following links:
