Legacy, Part Two - IP Proxy

One modern technology that carries on some of the technical components of phone phreaking are “proxy servers”. To put it simply, a proxy server is an intermediary between a local computer and the remote server being accessed. The remote server is unaware of any information about the local computer, believing that requests for data are originating with the proxy server. By using this technology and masking the identity of their local computer, hackers and enthusiasts are able bypass regional content restrictions and firewalls, eavesdrop on data, and anonymously access certain web content.
