Paris, Texas: In Color

Color Galleries: Red, Green, and Blue

Color Film: A (Very) Brief History
Paris, Texas (1984) was shot on 35 mm film. The film's cinematographer, Robert Müller, did not use any post-production editing techniques to achieve the striking color in this film ("Robby Müller and Paris, Texas"). Rather, he used lighting and meticulous staging. Still, the images produced call to mind earlier technologies of tinting, toning, and hand-painting film. To read more about the additive color theories and early color film technologies, click here.
