The hall hosted Christian Science church services, and the building was also utilized as a general store, grocery store, shoe repair shop, and saloon. Later, the structure became Peltier's Grocery, which was owned by Corbett James Peltier. Located near Centerville Elementary and High Schools at the corner of Highway 90 and 37, the grocery store was well-known for serving sandwiches and breakfasts to Bayou Sale oilfield workers. In 1972, Dave Treen, former governor of Louisiana, made a congressional campaign stop at the grocery store. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed by fire in 1973. This photograph was uncovered by Jimmy Strubb in 1974 and was reproduced by Ory Miguez.
