He became a photographer in the U.S. Air Force and decided to pursue it as a career after his service. He and his wife opened their first studio in Franklin in 1947, and in 1957, they moved to a larger studio at 824 Main Street. The Miguez Studio had always been a family business, with Ory's wife, Alma Blanchard, handling retouching and oil coloring. In 1974, their son, Ken Miguez, joined the business full-time.
