Recent Challenges

Both of these movements weren't merely formed for no reason at all, but to protect the general internet viewer from censorship. Most recently both of these organizations have faced opposition to the Government bills SOPA, and PIPA. If passed both bills will effectively steal the internet. People will live in fear and censorship of the new online police who will have the authority to say whether or not what you're doing is illegal or not.

SOPA: Spot Internet Piracy Act. is intended to protect companies from acts of internet piracy. It states grounds that will allow the government to classify such acts, acts of piracy, and therefore illegal.

PIPA: Protect IP Act. this act effectively gives the United States government the authority to go out and physically investigate, and discipline anyone suspected of copyright infringement. This act will extend outside the boarders of the USA, giving the US authority over the cyber space of the world.
