Key Figures

Aaron Swartz
Aaron Swartz was considered a genius by his peers. He commissioned the RSS news feed that many people and organizations use, such as MSN. He also had a thirst for the truth, and believed that everything should be transparent, especially the government. To him information was a wealth that should be shared with all and no be constrained by the government, corporations, or copyrights. In order to bring his visions to life, he founded the Demand Progress movement party, and co-founded the internet site Reddit.com. Both of these organizations fight for the freedom of the general online goer. Although Reddit has now become somewhat of an entertainment site, it still stays true to transparency and allows anyone to post/view the site.

Gottfrid Svartholm, also known as Anakata is one of the key founders of the Pirate Bay pirating site in 2003. Anakata was labeled a genius by his peers as well as many other online hackers for decrypting many leaked government videos. One such video, Collateral Murder Video, first posted on WikiLeaks, actually making WikiLeaks a credited site. As well he is the creator of Hypercube, a tracking software that anyone can use, and what the Pirate Bay is actually running off of. Obviously since the Pirate Bay is comprised of stolen and copyrighted material, the government wasted no time tracking them down. Sadly in 2009 he was banned from any contact with the Pirate Bay site. Currently he's being held in solitary confinement after being extradited from Cambodia awaiting the conclusion on charges of hacking into the IT company CSC.
