no signs of demarcation: a mixtape

My little sister was born on the spectrum
so sometimes she can be quite sporadic

One minute she’s spry and full of so much life
next second she’s either melancholy or ready to fight.

She’s primarily non-verbal, but knows how to say “juice”;
sometimes if you call her name she won’t even move.

At times, with my youngest sister, she can be pretty cool
but when she has an episode I don’t know what to do.

It could be the i-Pad. TV, even something that crossed her mind
that could turn her violent destroying everything in sight or

fleeing to her room wailing a heart-piercing cry. Sometimes
I think those tears are the words she can’t express

roaring down her face as she tries to catch them.
At times I question if I should sit beside her

because I don’t know quite how to fix her problems.
But, sometimes that doesn’t matter.
