The Hughes mound, is 100 yards from the Saline River, stands 80 feet high and 110 feet long. The 4.5-acre (1.8 ha) site is an important Caddoan Mississippian culture village center, at the northeastern frontier of that civilization. It is the only known platform mound site south of Benton on the Saline River. The site has not been dated, but artifacts found there are consistent with the Caddoan period; no contact-period artifacts have been found.plain2018-10-16T23:12:55-07:00ImageArkansas Native American heritage sites34.563099, -92.553802jpeg/280 x 180 pixelsCaddo Mississippian culture1450 - 1650 ADJoseph Brown5eac7ef3705d9f80e567b77e809a27064bd00249
