Cavanaugh Mound is a large Mississippian/Caddo mound that was damaged many years ago by previous owners who, for reasons unknown, removed about a third of the mound and then later, dug a cellar in its side. Preservation work has been done at that site in recent years by the Arkansas Archaeological Survey and The Archaeological Conservancy, a nonprofit group that purchased the mound in 2012.plain2018-10-17T03:37:38-07:0035.313046, -94.415637Caddoan Mississippian culture1100 - 1300 AD
