Expository Essay Self Reflection
In the Narrative of The Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave by Frederick Douglas, the use of dehumanization against slaves demonstrated how hard life was back in the 1800s. The genre of this expository essay was the use of power the whites had towards the slaves always dehumanizing them. The exigence of this essay, was for me to write about how a man name Douglass was being hurt and tortured, and the only way out was a Bay where he saw a was as an escape from slavery. Also, the motivation for writing this is to speak out on the way the cruel whites had tortured the slaves, also treated them like pigs feeding them their food all mashed up. What I was hoping to accomplish by writing this, is to show that life back then was hard for slaves always being called names and being tortured. Now a day the same thing is being done but the African-Americans aren't being tortured, they are being facially accused of crimes they didn't commit due to their racial complections. But, by writing this I hope that those who racial accuse people of their skin color know what they are doing because they are doing a big mistake. Underneath the skin, our blood color is the same meaning we are all human beings created under
God’s image. The potential audience for this essay is everyone. The reason why it is everyone is that people need to see that people are not to be treated as slaves, or to be tortured for any reason. My perspective on this is that the use of slavery, and African-Americans being called names is never going to end unless we fight for equal right in our nation. The relationship between me and my audience is that we see this in our everyday lives. People being falsely accused because of their color, or just to make fun of people with the different color because, of what we have been taught in the books or by our parents. What I have learned from writing this essay is that life is never easy but, the only way to get through it is by being safe and away from trouble. Also never judge anyone based on their color because we all are the same, all are children of God
