Morley College Permanent Collection

The Digitisation Project

Since the Covid-19 pandemic drastically affected people's life, digital technologies have become essential to share incredible stories and treasures as part of our cultural heritage.
Morley College has always been committed to inclusive learning and broadening participation, and digitisation is now a great opportunity to share with a wider public as possible the fascinating story of our Permanent Collection.

The Permanent Collection Digitisation Project started in January 2023, with the aim to revolutionize accessibility and enhance the value of our collection, which has been made possible through the invaluable contributions of artists, teachers, and tutors, who have played a crucial role in its creation over the years.

The project has involved the careful process of photographing each artwork and artifact in the collection, ensuring the capture of its intricate details and essence.  The result is a comprehensive digital archive, that will allow everyone to discover the pieces of art and learn about the artists, the materials, and the creative processes, a treasure trove of information for our staff, art enthusiasts, researchers, and curious minds alike.
By breaking down barriers and embracing digital technologies, we have created an immersive platform that transcends physical limitations, inviting individuals from everywhere to engage and explore the richness and diversity of our Collection.

The Permanent Collection Digitisation Project not only preserves the cultural heritage of Morley College but also propels it into the future, ensuring its enduring legacy for generations to come.

The new Digital Permanent Collection is only part of a broader project that will revolutionize the way visitors and staff engage with art and education.
It is just the beginning... stay tuned!
