Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Nightlife is a core part of many students' experiences while attending college. Whether students are staying up late at the library to finish assignments or are walking from party to party, safe transportation at night is vital. But at the University of Delaware, buses disappear in the evenings. During a typical weekday, students can expect to see 4-6 buses en route across campus. However, once 6 or 7 p.m. comes around, that number of buses is cut in half. With classes in session until after 8 pm and most clubs and on-campus events held in the evenings, the number of students looking to use the UD Bus System after dark is still plentiful. I have found myself waiting 25 minutes for a bus across campus because my only other option was to walk 20 minutes home in the dark. With crimes such as aggravated assault and weapon-related incidents being a repeated occurrence around campus, the safety of students is not being adequately addressed regarding safe travels across campus at night.
