Micro-Landscapes of the Anthropocene

Final Reflections

My E-concept regards to the different types of worlds, the way humans take care of them and the consequences if they are not looked after properly. Which is why I decided to choose pre extinction and watery worlds as a sort of hybrid. I believe that without the proper care and conditions the environment will become more and more polluted and change, which in turn will alter the way the our world is and how it works. When the environment drastically changes it affects the way humans and animals alike behave and their quality of life, which can affect species population numbers and mental health states of all animals. Every world is beautiful if humans only took more time to understand and care for the planet, the overall quality of life would increase and extinction numbers would decrease.

The research my E-concept has been inspired from is all of the beautiful information on the Micro-landscapes of the Anthropocene. However I mainly chose to look at the information on Watery Worlds and Extinction because these were the two categories I was drawn to the most. The research made me think how interesting of a concept it is that life began in the water and evolved to be on the land. This inspired me because there is so many different worlds, within the world we live in and that they all have their own rules and work so differently. Once compared with the extinction research pages the value that humans place on environmental life of the plants and animals that inhabit the same planet as them is disgusting.

Upon conducting this research and reading more and more about different types of worlds and how extinction is happening more and more each day it began turning the wheels in my head. Inspiring me to look at my own world from a different perspective, from a plant or an animals or even a third party to try and understand the picture as a whole rather than a fraction. The only fraction that humanity seems to see is through their own eyes. It helped me reflect on the way I treat the environment around me, how environmentally friendly I am and how I can improve the way I care for the world I inhabit. I learnt that compared to average human beings I tend to produce less carbon admissions, however I still contribute to landfill and carbon admissions by having rubbish that cannot be recycled and driving my car which contributes to polluting the air and the ozone layer. However I always go out of my way to make sure everything that can be recycled is and my family also partake in giving the bottles to make sure they are recycled properly. Making sure my carbon footprint is less than the average person and doing what I can when I can makes a difference even if it is a small one. Part of me will always wish for a voice to ban the use of materials that cannot be recycled or are biodegradable however one voice among many can only do so much.

Through the navigation and creation of the Micro-landscapes of the Anthropocene I have learnt more than I could have ever imagined. The book unlocked so many different perspectives for me, allowing me to venture into different worlds and apply them into my own life. Something that will constantly be with me, throughout my life and hopefully I too can pass on something I have learnt with other people.
