Achebe's work, highly influenced by the mid-2010's architect Yong Ha Kim, focuses on developing a highly fire-resistant strain of the mangrove-kudzu hybrid organism that serves as the primary material for most bioarchitectural buildings.
  
  Achebe's work may be best known to a general audience for its influence on the photo-comics of afrofuturist Makokoan graphic novelist Michael Mwonaji. Their conversations led to Mwonaji's current storyworld for his graphic novels, a future Makoko that is grown more than scavenged or built, a city that has literally put down roots, speaking to a Makokoan fantasy that they can put down roots themselves, stop fearing eviction or needing to continuously move. Achebe's work on fire-resistant strains of the bioarchitectural main organism may have been influenced by Makoko's having been burned down repeatedly by the Lagosian government. The risk of her succeeding and having her work put into use in Makoko has made her unpopular among the Lagosian government, which has in turn made securing local grants near impossible, but her work has been awarded ample funding from multiple external sources.
