Posthumanism Through the Lense of Cinema

Her (2013) Scene analysis

In this scene of Her, we can find at 46:05-47:56, which is in the middle of the film, when the relationship between Theodore and Samantha is very good. In this scene, we can see Theodore very happy and fulfilled. We can see in his shirt pocket he has a device that I could qualify as a cell phone or mini laptop so that Samantha is with him. Even if she is not present in her body, I have the impression that her presence is felt by these laughs and not by what she says.

When they arrive at the beach, you can't hear anything but Samantha's voice, even though it is full of people. Theodore is so focused on Samantha that he doesn't notice her surroundings. The questions that Samantha asks him are very interesting about the human body as she herself has no body. We are shown close-ups of several body parts, which, in my opinion, gives us the impression that she is embodied. Moreover, after she makes a sexual joke and even draws a picture, it gives the impression that she is very present and has a personality.
