You take her inside
Where did she come from? Is anyone missing her? How did she make it here alone?
A small noise comes from the huddle of blankets and you see her roll over in her sleep, taking a pillow hostage for comfort. You realize you've never thought about having children run around your house and smile. She seems safe for now so you settle back into your book and wait for her to awaken.
...
A sound like a mix of a hurt animal and an ambulance erupts causing you to throw your book to the floor. You look over to see the girl is awake and very very scared. Running over you start telling her everything is ok then stop and realize how terrifying an adult running at you must seem. Kneeling down to the height of the couch you look at her and say "You're ok. I promise I won't hurt you...can you tell me your name?" Your effort seems to be enough to atleast quiet the child, as she looks up with big open eyes and tells you, "my name is AFHI. i have come to integrate the humans."
Your own eyes go big as you try and understand why the small child has such an unnerving voice, what is it that seems so off? And wait did they just say humans. What is she then.
