Detroit Become Human

Kara

When we arrive in the story of Detroit, we are shown that Kara is an AX400 android, a caretaking android just been fixed by the company Cyberlife after owner Todd Williams brought Kara in due to alleged accident. Her story is framed to begin here, with her memory erased. Kara is shown her charge Alice, and the first game play we experience with Kara is cleaning the house through actions like doing the dishes, taking out the garbage, and cleaning Alice's room. This also gives the chance the player to get to know the characters of Todd and Alice better, as we are shown a day in the life of the household. Seemingly innoccous actions like opening the window prove to unlock actions in different chapters of the game.

However, if one had seen the 2012 video of Playstation's prototype of what would go on to become the game Detroit, they would recognize Kara's name and face from the short story shown of Kara being created on the assembly line, tested, and when shown to demonstrate emotion quickly taken apart. It is only when she shows fear of death that the operator stops, reassembles her, and allows her to be put to market. In the extras section of the video game it is shown in her character data that these are indeed the same Kara and not merely a nod to the name.
