Latinx Family Representation in Commercials

Conclusion

In the greater scope of things, this research project was created to analyze how Latinx families are represented in the media. These commercials demonstrate how marketing companies use the Latinx struggle to combine their Latinidad and their Americanity (American-ness) in order to connect to their Latinx audience. Although there is progress to more accurately represent the Latinx population, most depictions still reinforce conservative gender roles. While examining Latinx families in commercials and paying attention to the language use, the representation of gender stereotypes, and the presence of extended family, these struggles are aptly shown.

As digital media evolves, compilations of more material can come to the surface, and it is possible to get a better idea of what the Latinx identity is and how it is represented. But it is a burning question without a definite answer. Perhaps it is a hybridization of American and Latinx culture, or a completely new identity that is given birth by the two. It is up to the Latinx society to define it themselves.
