STATEMENT ON PROFESSIONAL SERVICE :

My research and teaching are strongly tied to my service and continued professional development. I have developed professional networks that foster my interest in inclusion, diversity and equity in information spaces and information professions.  My professional service broadly reflects my ability to manage international and interdisciplinary groups of experts, and to deliver high quality workflows that foster accountability and collaboration.

I have taken on leadership roles in international professional networks that foster interdisciplinary research across the humanities and social sciences. Notably for six years, I actively participated in the Digital Preservation Coalition’s subcommittee work on research and practice for bridging data management, metadata curation and digital preservation practices, as well as DARIAH and CLARIN subcommittees for social science research data management and research ethics.

More recently, I have taken on leadership roles within the UK/Ireland Digital Humanities Association sustains my engagement with networks that facilitate networking that fosters sustainable interdisciplinary and regional research collaborations. While participating in these projects and subcommittees, I have developed a critical understanding of the intersections between geographic location, professional training and organizational politics in the UK and EU, which has shaped my commitment to practicing inclusive forms of research that interrogate and question normative assumptions about labour, identity, and gender.

I have used these networks and experiences to organize the evaluation of my current department’s assessment patters as the postgraduate and undergraduate exam boards. Similarly, as the former chair of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities technology enhanced learning and library liaison committee, I have facilitated the development good practices for decolonizing reading lists. Both positions framed goals as my Faculty’s current inclusive education lead. During my time in post, I have supported student led research on attainment gaps.
