Timeline

Women's Life on the Lexington Avenue Campus (1925-1962)

Kentucky College for Women has progressed and adapted to change over its dynamic history. This change has encompassed the opening of the college in 1860 as the Caldwell Female Institute and progression to the Kentucky College for Women in 1913 to the physical merge of its campus with Centre College in 1962. Progression in women's rights is evident throughout the history of KCW and its transition to Centre College. The enactment of Title IX in 1972 serves as a milestone for women in education.
