TIMELINE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Create a new page. Name accordingly (name is very important, it becomes the label on the timeline)
2. Add a description. A bit longer is better, as the description is the only other informative text that will show on the timeline. The description should convey all the essential information so people who do not click onto the specific page can still get what they need.
3. Edit your page like normal. Add images, make it a nice little article/snippet of information. More detail in the body text, make it complete.
4. Now the fun part. Scroll down below this text box to [Metadata]. Click.
5. Look to the blue [Add additional metadata] button. Click. A window will pop-up with several different metadata options. Under [Featured] look for [dcterms:date]. Click.
6. Now you will have a new entry field under the [Metadata] tab. It works with the following format:
month, day, year, hour, minute, second
7. Input the data you have. If you do NOT have a field (say minute, or second) simply do not put anything. Do not put a '0', just ignore it completely.
7.5. A recommended stage is to add a thumbnail image, as it will show in the timeline! Very important. Feel free to use placeholders.
8. Once finished, hit [Save] if you want to keep editing your page, or [Save and view] if you're done.
9. Go back to the Timeline page. Open the editor.
10. Scroll back down below the editor box to the [Relationships] tab. Click to open the drop-down window, and click on [Tag]
11. You want to click the first option: "To make this page a tag, choose the items that it tags." It will open a new window.
12. Click the [Pages] option at the top of this new window to reveal all the pages. Find the page you created in steps 1-3 and click to to tag. [Save and view]
13. View the timeline, checking to make sure that it is at the proper date, all your text looks nice, and the such. You done, yo
NOTES
- After you've successfully linked & dated your page, you can go back and edit it freely in any way, so long as the tag + date relationship does not change.
- Feel free to edit this page, and look down to the Metadata section to see how the date was done.
- To add a Thumbnail image, first make sure it's uploaded onto the media on scalar. Use the little drop-box lookin' icon to upload files. Then, edit the page you want to add a thumbnail to and go to the [Styling] tab below the editor box, and a drop-down will show. Select [Thumbnail] from here and select the image you want.
