Two Examples of Integrating Media

In the first example, we will learn how to integrate a Prezi presentation into your Scalar project.

As in a blog or website interface, you can easily integrate a Prezi into your Scalar project.

This process has a few steps.
First, you can use Scalar's interface for integrating a Prezi into your project by going to your Dashboard. Click on the 'Media' tab. There you will find a list of media that can be uploaded, i.e., 'Youtube,' 'Prezi,' 'Vimeo,' etc. Click on the 'Prezi' link. Search for the Prezi you desire.

Second, if you know which Prezi you want to integrate, go to the Prezi at Prezi.com (the link for the Prezi above looks like this: http://prezi.com/va5ptr7woo4f/introduction-to-digital-writing/), and click on the 'Embed' link below the presentation. Here, another link will appear with the title "Copy Code to Clipboard." Click the link.

Go back to the Scalar page to which you want to add the Prezi. Click on the 'Edit' option. Now click on the 'HTML' version of your text box.

When you click on the 'HTML' link you are presented with the text and code that comprises the page you are editing. The best way to figure out what you are looking at is to focus on text you have written, rather than on the code that organizes it. Locate the sentence or paragraph below which you want to situate your Prezi. Avoid any brackets and paste your Prezi's code into your text box. Do this by pressing 'Control, P,' etc. Your Prezi is now integrated into your Scalar project.

**NOTE** HTML is its own digital language. It's code is specific and it can drastically change the layout of your page. However, there are a few easy commands you can learn that will make it easier for you to identify what is happening on your HTML page. For instance, if you have bolded any text, you will see a code surrounding that text that looks like this: <b>text</b>. If you have italicized any text, you will see code surrounding that text that looks like this: <i>text</i>.  If you would like to learn more HTML commands, you can check out HTMLdog's tutorial here.
