A page is the basic unit of a Scalar project. Each page can bring together text and media.
To begin, we'll create a new page.
Select the new page icon (plus sign) from the upper right hand corner to create a new pageUpdate the Title and Description:- Title: [Song Name]
- Description: [Describe the page, ie “Music video featuring [musician name]
Next, add text to the page:
- Type the title followed by the performer
- Write a sentence or two underneath the song title describing the song.
- Copy and paste the song lyrics into the page
Next, integrate some media into your page:
Embed the video
We want the video to be embedded directly into the page at the very top. First, create a blank line at the top where you want to insert the video. Then, to insert media directly into the page, use the “insert inline scalar media link” tab from the text editor menu.- Choose the youtube video that you uploaded.
- size “medium”;
- align “center”;
- caption “title and description”
- Note: to edit these choices later, you’ll need to go into the html editor, using the “source” button.
Link a photo
- Highlight the singer’s name and choose the “insert scalar media link” button. (It's the first green triangle button, just to the right of the globe) Select the photo of the singer that you imported.
- Size: medium
- Align: right
- caption: title and description
- Add the other photos creatively!
Link a pdf file
- Find an appropriate place to link in the PDF file following the instructions above. The brief paragraph describing the video may be a good place!
Update styling
- from the bottom menu, choose styling
- Select “key image”
- Choose the album cover as your “key image”

The Splash Page is basically the title page for a project or path. It displays a large image (like the roller coaster in this example) along with text.
1. Making a splash page is simple. First, click on the "plus" button at the top of the screen to create a new page. Give the page a Title and description (this will appear as text on the page).
2. Set the "layout" to "splash" using the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page.
3. Select the image you want to use as the Splash Page. Using the "styling" menu at the bottom of the page, select "key image." Then choose the image you want to use.
Select "save and view" to see your splash page!
If you want to edit it again, use the "pencil" button to reopen the file. Otherwise, follow the path to create your Scalar page!
