"Barriers to Implementation"

With all new tools comes a learning curve, but digital media has permeated our society for a few decades. What is withholding the mass adoption of digital information dissemination in the academy? This section will explores the barriers to entry unique to the market of higher education institutions and what the implications are for publishing, authorship, and the future of the academy. These conversations will require authors to loosen their reins a bit on the control over their texts, forgoing the illusion that their work springs solely from their individual intelligence and learning to understand that scholarship has always been collaborative. It also requires institutions to recognize that in the 21st century, where there are more discourse than ever was possible, the most pressing work of a scholar may lean more towards curatorial practices rather than solely focused on the production of original content.
