Dr. Ronnie Carter was an English professor at IU East. He dropped out of high school at 16, joined the army at 17 and spent two years in Germany, and attended Idaho State University, earning his B.A. in English in 1963 and his M.A. in English in 1966. He later attended the University of Wisconsin and earned his Ph.D. in English in 1972 and started teaching at IU East that same year. During 1984, he served as an exchange professorship in Poland, where he taught three classes (two composition, one Western American Literature and Culture) in English.
