Marilyn Watkins is the Former Dean of the School of Education at IU East. She retired in 2014.
Awards, achievements, and involvements:
Received Hellen Lees Excellence in Teaching Award (1995)
Helped develop entrepreneurial curriculum (with Tim Scales) for IUE BOSS (Business Opportunities for Self Starters) program, which began in 2007
Participated in Summer Faculty Fellowship in 2006
Received Indiana University’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 2000
Served on the IU Committee that selects awardees starting in 2005
Served on the executive committee of the Indiana Association of College Teacher Educators and was its president for one term
Served on Teacher Education Council of the Indiana Professional Standards Board
Served as a division chair or dean at IUE twice, including most recently starting in 2007
Received MLK Award in 2007
Led the accreditation of IU East Education programs multiple times
Received the Faculty Special Achievement Award in 2014
Volunteered for World Book Night in 2014, which works with authors to pass out free books in volunteers' communities
