In this scene Dragon finds Donkey in her castle and tries to eat him before she is swooned by his words. At this part of her arc she is truly a monster, a gatekeeper to a princess up the tower or in other words part of her treasure. Here Dragon represents an obstacle to be overcome and nothing more until Donkey takes an interest in her. It's funny how this is similar to human monsters over the course of history where rivalling clans and people were seen as monsters to each other simply because they were unknown, much like the foreigners in The Baccantes.
