In my on-going training in digital media, I seek to expand my digital literacy and to learn best practices so that I can better guide students through the process of writing, organizing, and sharing historical products. In doing so, I hope to show students the ways that history is relevant to the present while helping them build a general skill set.plain2013-04-30T15:33:46-07:00Genevieve Carpiocbaef6f4fe1847cc774ee8ef5c2d6efb0a58fda3

I view digital media as a critical tool for connecting students to historical investigation and production. My digital media training at the Institute for Media Literacy at the USC Cinema School (including "Teaching with Digital Media," "Digital Pedagogies," and "Digital Media Tools and Tactics") serves as a foundation to this work. I've since expanded my digital literacy as a participant in THATCamp, completing a semester workshop in GIS at Yale (which builds on previous training at UCLA), and presenting on the uses of digital media in the classroom at the American Studies Association annual meeting and the National Council on Public History annual conference (upcoming March 2014). I seek to expand my digital literacy and to learn best practices so that I can better guide students through the process of writing, organizing, and sharing historical products. In doing so, I demonstrate the ways that history is relevant to the present while helping them build a general skill set.
