Through my work with the Historical Society of Pomona Valley, I became involved with Inland Mexican Heritage (IMH), an organization dedicated to preserving the stories of the Mexican, Mexican-American, and indigenous people of inland southern California. I served as an Associate Producer for The Living on the Dime project, an award winning documentary video that was released earlier this year. The project served as my introduction to collecting oral histories and stimulated my interest in the role of transportation in community development (the project itself followed the impact of the Interstate 10). I’ve since been involved in program coordination, outreach efforts, grant applications, and film screenings. Mexican Americans in Redlands,a pictorial history based on the IMH archives that I co-authored, has recently been released by Arcadia Publishing.
