Jonathan EC Installed, Job Day one
You shake hands with the person at the workstation. The EC kicks in. You start understanding details about this person's life and their perspective. Since she was a job recruiter before the water wars she is perfect for this job, you feel bad that she lost her family in the water wars. She states that you had done construction before everything happened and asks if you want to continue doing such. You agree. You do not know anything else.
You are on the job site and get a glimpse of the crew. This is like the cafeteria, there are diverse groups all around you. But you have no choice now. It is time to work, the site supervisor points to a shovel and tells you to start digging. You guys do not lock eyes or shake hands so the EC doesn't kick in, he seems busy. You overhear people arguing in the pit next to you, homophobic and racist words are being used. You are used to hearing these things. You chose to stay where you are. You hear footsteps from behind you. A transgendered woman of color in a dress asks if she can dig with you. This is presumably who they were yelling at. You want to say no, but things are different now. You say you do not care, you just want to get work done. She puts out her hand and introduces herself. Her name is Shaylin. You grab her hand and the EC kicks in. You are seeing things from her perspective. She has endured cruelty her entire life and sometimes even violence. You start to feel bad for her after seeing all these clips from her life. As you snap out of it you see despite this hard life, and despite what just happened to her, she is still smiling. You introduce yourself as well.
The two of you are finishing the day's work when the crew from the pit comes over and starts taunting Shaylin again. One of them throws a rock at her and calls her a terrible name.
