Meet Frozen's Beloved Character Elsa
But most importantly, Frozen centers on the main character Elsa, who is cursed with the power to create snow and ice.
Unable to control her powers, Elsa isolates herself from the town, leaving behind the bonds of sisterhood and the subjects of her kingdom.
Directors’ Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee stay consistent with Disney’s stereotypical princesses, establishing the character of Elsa as struggling with her identity and hiding away her true self. Looking more closely at the glove Elsa wears in the “Let It Go” scene, the directors’ interplay of lyrics, gestures, and design of the glove itself reveal Elsa’s internal battle of identity and restraint, and the struggle she must overcome to find freedom (Buck).
