Relevance over time

Food waste is a dynamic and complex field of study. From the graphics shown we can see how its relevance over time as become increasingly more visible. The x-axis of the graph represents the progression of time juxtaposed by the y-axis which represents the amount of peer-reviewed articles published. The purpose of the image is to place emphasis on how the debate of food waste has become increasingly relevant and has emerged from a relatively infinitesimal beginning.  


The next image was retrieved from Google trends. This shows how interest of food waste has spiked over time. Similarly, the x-axis represents time and the y-axis represents content associated with food waste. Google trends includes scholarly articles and also expands on it including various other materials and content. The trend shows how the debate has increased considerably since 2004.
