Introduction

This site is designed to furnish you with a critical vocabulary for talking and writing about film. As you'll quickly infer, this vocabulary tends to center much more on technique and formal elements than on plot.
Cinematography is a general term for the art of filming a movie. It translates roughly to "recording movements" and can entail anything from a static camera on a tripod to a mobile handheld camcorder.
