Introduction/About Writing This Timeline
This timeline is a "Their Story" defined by Joe Lambert's & Brooke Hessler's book Digital Storytelling: Capturing Lives, Creating Community. The timeline is not written from my personal voice but towards an expository and journalistic one to explain China's current stance on democratic nations. I like this topic because many people believe that the People's Republic of China's (PRC) attitude towards democratic countries is irrational, but that's not the case. There is always an emotional reason behind every behavior. As stated in the Seven Steps of Digital Storytelling, after reflecting on the emotion of this story, I realized how complex each event is and that I can unveil deeper layers of the events. It takes a lot of researching someone's life story and history in the making of culture and philosophy to discover why historical events happen. In addition, Lamberts article describes that finding the moment must take the reader through that moment of change. This timeline runs through the emotional state of influence that democratic countries had on China. Beginning with China's most prominent moral philosophy that began in ancient times, then we will learn how greed from the west traumatizes the Chinese people, and how China attempted to bring back dignity to their country. I acknowledge there are many missing pieces in this story, but the keystone events I have researched are briefly documented that has amounted to China's phobia of democratic countries.
