Exploring the Languages of Digital Media

Future of Henry's Media Design?

Overall my exploration in the languages of digital media this semester and the IML program has been extremely inspiring for my journey of media making, and my goals in being a creator and engager in media theory. I found from the start in reading Practices of Looking that understanding the context for the media we create is vital in conveying the message, and shapes how understand the message of older works. This attention to context is ann important idea when making media in the 21st century, and is something I am interested in exploring in the future. This idea was of extra interest to me when exploring...

This along with Berger's comment in Ways of Seeing on the context of paintings was an important reminder of how we derive meaning from older pieces, and the usefulness that older works have in revealing the nature of what was seen in society and even explanation for why. In this way this semester was enlightening because it made me understand the power that media can have for understanding other and past societies, and by examining signs and how we derive meaning the potential power they have for us today.
I found that in both the image projects and my digital argument through remix, that form seemed especially intriguing and important to me when conveying a message, and its no wonder then why I have found myself exploring the use of form in other media as well. I belive that this may be some of my own style showing through as I start creating more media, and hope to expand on this as I continue creating in other spheres, particularly AR, VR and a continuation of video making. I also found through this semesters exploration in media that I have a interest in hyper text and the continued ability to link information in novel ways with technology, and that can be seen in this website though the use of both the map which allows the person to uniqley explore the content and specific instances where you can see physical annotations on media.
