Eternal Rest: An anthology on death

INTRODUCTION

Death is the ultimate thing for a living creature. Much of living is driven by the sense of fear it entails. Each culture, religion, caste, ethnicity have diverse opinions depending upon their origins, history, ancestors, literature, art etc. These opinions when collide cause much commotion among the people. It is hard to come to consensus in this context as there has been no scientific explanation or justification. This makes the concept of death an argumentative discussion. Therefore, this anthology tries to put together the viewpoints and make a comprehensible compilation.
‘Eternal Rest’ organises the viewpoints in a chronological order. By this it tries to establish the diversity in perspectives and also the variation of viewpoints with advent of time. The viewpoints included are taken from various sources like articles, biblical texts, poems, novels, liturgical songs and band songs. The anthology consists of Psalms 91: With Jewish Customs, Bible Story: Jesus Raised Lazarus from Death (St.John11:4-44), a Syrian Liturgical Song, William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Emily Dickenson’s Because I could not stop for death, Pablo Neruda’s Nothing but death, Allen Ginsberg’s Kaddish Part 1, Bob Dylan’s song Going, going, gone, Queen’s the show must go on, Iron Maiden’s Dance of death and Deathbeds’ Bring me to horizon.   
The concept of death in ‘Eternal Rest’ starts by looking at death as natural and non-fearing and then transforms to explaining death as only a worldly death and talks about life after death according to the Christian interpretations. Further it looks at death as life provider in dramatic sequence. It shifts to focus on confronting death and death as a pain reliever.  Later is looks at latest views on death which are included through songs which speak about death as an ultimate and imperative component. Finally it looks at relationships at death and near death experiences.
This comprehensible compilation provides great insights into driving life force. This condensation of masterpieces will prove to be allowing a taste of authors and exploration of genres. All in all ‘Eternal Rest’ aims at providing knowledge on the concept of death in a form which is easy to use.
