Being Wronged

Introduction

This digital exhibit was created by Raghav Goyal, Sara Ling, Krisjon Spring, and Dominique Tomoto. (Learn about students here)

The works explored in this exhibit are:
  1. Hobo Lobo of Hamelin (January 2011 - present) by Stevan Živadinović,
  2. Missing by SBS (2019)
  3. Façade (2005) by Michael Mateas and Andrew Stern
  4. The Brain Drawing the Bullet (2014) by Alan Trotter.
These works are unified by the theme of a character or characters being wronged. Whether this be by power figures in society or criminals with unjustified actions, the idea of injustice and misfortune to characters is prevalent within this exhibit.

Through analyses of our respective works, we have uncovered the common features of electronic literature such as color, sound, interactivity, graphics, and technology, to name a few. These features convey, in unique ways, the unfair treatment of the characters found in each of our pieces.

Navigate the table of contents below to explore each work in any order! Each work is discussed in turn to uncover features of narrative, design, or mechanics that collectively develop the theme.
